For All of Us in Philanthropy, the Moment of Rebuilding is Here: A Reflection

While the last year presented its fair share of obstacles to overcome on an individual, national, and global scale, the philanthropic sector displayed how it could not only address these hurdles head on but also how ready it was to revolutionize the way we give. In her opinion piece titled For All of Us in Philanthropy, the Moment of Rebuilding is Here, our colleague in the sector Lisa Pilar Cowen of the Robert Sterling Clark Foundation highlights how the quick reaction of those in philanthropy to give more and faster without stringent guidelines made a striking impact on our grantee partners’ ability to serve our beloved communities. Even though the hope of returning to some sense of normalcy seems close on the horizon, we must keep in mind that the racism, economic distress, and other detrimental forms of inequity that bubbled to the surface will not go away without challenging the conventions we once operated under.
