The Elmezzi Foundation, along with its project Zone 126 was able to secure a $500,000 promise neighborhood grant for residents of Astoria Houses. As first reported by the Queens Courier, this funding, which was only presented to 20 organizations nationwide, will go to making sure that over 1,600 children in Astoria Houses have access to cradle to career services. What this means is that Zone 126, with the backing of community partners like Elmezzi (Elmezzi Foundation will also be providing at a minimum $350,000 for this project), will be able to ensure that underserved children have access to quality educational resources and workforce development, making sure that the young people of Western Queens are able to achieve the American Dream.
