The Elmezzi Foundation is pleased to renew its commitment to the Elmezzi Graduate School of Molecular Medicine at Northwell Health’s Feinstein Institute for Medical Research. Starting in 2019, the new grant is $10 million over 10 years, bringing the Foundation’s total giving to the Elmezzi Graduate School to $22 million.
The year 2019 also marks the 25th anniversary of the school: a Ph.D program for physicians seeking careers in biomedical research; where they are trained in discovering the cause of diseases in humans and creating diagnostic and therapeutic solutions. Previously, the Foundation supported the Elmezzi Graduate School of Molecular Medicine by granting a $15 million endowment over 10 years from 2007 to 2017. Since the support from the Elmezzi Foundation, the School has seen tremendous success and impact. There are 35 graduates working in the United States and 8 internationally. Their work has led to more than 500 research papers, 23 U.S. utility patents and 13 grants from the National Institutes of Health.
“We are proud of the accomplishments of the Elmezzi Graduate School alumni, all of whom are making significant contributions to a better understanding of human disease. The additional endowment gift will allow the school to become a global magnet for training promising doctors in translational medicine, and we are excited about the potential for generational impact,” said Jose Rivero, the Foundation’s Chairman and President.
The Foundation thrilled at the impact these physicians and scientists will have on the world, to investigate the cause of disease and to contributing to better health and life outcomes for us all.
