October 2025 marks a profound milestone for the Thomas and Jeanne Elmezzi Private Foundation, twenty years since the passing of the founders -Thomas and Jeanne Elmezzi, whose generosity, compassion, and vision continue to inspire every aspect of our work. In these two decades, the Foundation has carried forward their mission: to encourage and support programs that help individuals who, due to circumstance or environment, have not had the opportunity to live independent and productive lives.

To commemorate this meaningful anniversary, the Foundation hosted a special gathering on the evening of October 21, bringing together our grantees, partners, and board members to celebrate not only the lives and legacy of Tom and Jeanne Elmezzi but also the collective impact of our shared work.

The evening was one of reflection, gratitude, and connection. Board members who had known Tom and Jeanne personally shared heartfelt stories and memories, reminding everyone of the Elmezzis’ deep commitment to community, opportunity, and dignity for all. Their values, humility, compassion, and a steadfast belief in people’s potential, continue to shape the Foundation’s approach and partnerships today.

Throughout the event, representatives from long-standing partner organizations and community programs reflected on the Foundation’s ongoing role in advancing education, workforce development, youth empowerment, and health initiatives. Together, we celebrated how far we’ve come and continue to serve the Western Queens neighborhood. 

It was a beautiful evening of remembrance and renewal, a reminder that the Elmezzis’ legacy lives on not only through their philanthropy but also through the people and programs that embody their belief in helping others achieve independence and success.

As we look ahead, the Thomas and Jeanne Elmezzi Foundation remain deeply committed to honoring this legacy by continuing to invest in community-driven solutions, expanding opportunity, and supporting individuals to lead fulfilling, productive lives.
